Introduce yourself! Who are you?
Hi everyone, my name is Sanne van Bergenhenegouwen, picture-in-a-frame here on DA, from Holland (the Netherlands). I'm a student book and paper conservation and restauration at the university of Amsterdam.
When and why did you join Deviant Art?
Well, it says on my profile I have been on DA for three years, but I couldnt give you a more exact number.. I can't say I remember exactly why I joined either. I used to browse the site before I had an account, to look at art, and then at one point I decided "why not make an account for myself too?".
What kind of art do you create? What art form would you call your “main art form”?
I do a few different things; mostly photography, so that would be my 'main art form'. I am a little hesitant to call my work 'art' though (a little weird since the website is called DeviantART, but well), since I feel it sounds a little.. well, pretentious? That's just somethi
I am a freelance photographer, and a book and paper conservator at the University of Amsterdam. The day when I'll be able to support myself from my photography will be a happy one indeed.|
I mostly take portraits, but I'm slowly teaching myself to experiment with more full-body shots and stillives. I enjoy stylized studio portraits, but nothing beats using daylight. I am immensely insired by 17th century (Dutch) paintings (Vermeer for instance, but also stillives) and try to capture a certain painterly quality in my portraits when I can.
I won't tell you I'm an 'artist', I enjoy what I do, that's all I need
